Why use sugar in your baking mixes?

Open tab

Simply put, you just can not make a delicious brownie or blondie without using sugar. However, we will argue with every other brand out there who overdoses sugar, that you can make delicious baking mixes using half or less of the sugar that they use. Mainly because we did it!

Why don’t your baking mixes use Stevia or Monk Fruit instead of sugar?

Open tab

Manufactured sweeteners just do not hold up well under heat in baking mixes. They also impart a very fake and over sweetened taste to things like brownies, blondies, cakes and cookies. Pretty much everyone has a certain expectation of what a brownie or blondie should taste like, usually based on memories of delicious baked goods that came out of your mom’s or grandma’s oven. Grandma would never use Stevia or Monk Fruit in her recipes!

Can I use your baking mixes on a Paleo Diet?

Open tab

Technically speaking, no. The Brownie and Blondie mixes, while much lower in sugar than other desert baking mixes, do contain added raw, organic cane sugar. The Pancake and Pizza Dough mixes both contain organic pea protein, which is not typically allowed in strict Paleo diets.

Can I use milk in the mixes that call for water?

Open tab

Absolutely. Any time the mixing instructions call for water, you can easily substitute any kind of milk (whole, skim, almond, oat, etc). It Weil probably make the mix even richer when cooked as well as make the finished product more moist. Here is a list of options/ideas for liquids you can use:

For brownies, you can use a coffee-milk mixture. Just like milk, coffee is a good alternative for your tasteless water. In addition, coffee accentuates the bittersweet taste of chocolate. Mix half a cup of coffee and half a cup of milk for every cup of water.

Instead of using milk, you can replace your liquid with your favorite soda. This would work for the Blondie mix or the AWESOME Cakes, especially if incorporating fruits like strawberries, for example. It will also act as a leavening agent, making the fished product more fluffy. Replace equal amounts of water with soda.

Aside from other dairy products, you can add a small amount of mayonnaise to your mixture. Mayonnaise improves the texture and taste profile of cakes, brownies and even pancakes.. Add a dollop or two to your recipe and make a difference to your baking.

Other ingredients that you may add to your cake mix are fruit purees, pumpkin mix, and even melted ice cream. If you don’t have milk in hand, you can add half a melted butter and water to emulate the milk’s composition.
